Fuel price rises
The UK Government has announced additional funding for households affected by rising heating oil costs linked to the conflict in the Middle East. The Welsh Government has confirmed it will use its £3.8 million allocation to increase support for people in financial crisis who rely on off-grid fuel by:
• temporarily increasing the Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF) limit from £500 to £750 per award for heating oil while prices remain high. The number of payments will increase from one to two within a rolling 12-month period, with a minimum three-month gap between awards
• increasing funding to the Fuel Bank Foundation to expand support for people in fuel crisis in Wales, including vouchers for oil or gas deliveries for households not connected to the mains gas network, and support for those using prepayment meters who are at risk of disconnection

We are Approved Partners for these schemes and can advise on eligibility and submit applications on your behalf.
The Discretionary Assistance Fund is limited to people in severe and immediate financial hardship. It is not available to everyone affected by rising fuel costs.
You are unlikely to be eligible if you have access to savings or other financial resources that could be used to meet your immediate needs.
To qualify for a DAF Emergency Assistance Payment, you must:
• be in an immediate financial crisis and unable to afford essential living costs such as food, heating or electricity
• have no other means of support available, including savings or help from family or other sources
• have little or no savings
• meet eligibility checks on income, circumstances and previous awards
